Watch My Interview on Morning Joe

This morning I sat down with the team at Morning Joe. I don’t want to talk about the interview, because you can watch that. I want to tell you how we got there, because that is what matters.

Our End of Quarter fundraising deadline is in just 48 hours. We’re trying to raise $8,000 from our Substack community before the deadline. That’s 160 people chipping in $50 each to set a strong pace and keep our ads on the air. Can you be one of the 160 who chips in?

Chip in $25, $50, or $100 here!

We weren’t on anybody’s watch list when this cycle started. The national folks looked at South Dakota, saw an Independent running for the U.S. Senate, and moved on. I got into it for the people of this state.

So what did we do? We went to work. We’ve driven more than 20,000 miles across South Dakota. We’ve been to every single county. From the bluest of blue to the reddest of red, we showed up, we listened, and we kept coming back.

Here’s what I’ve learned on those roads. When you run as an Independent, people take their political jerseys off. They stop worrying about which team they’re supposed to cheer for, and they start talking about what’s actually happening in their lives.

And what’s happening isn’t easy.

Families across this state see nothing but gridlock and dysfunction coming out of Washington. Meanwhile, they can’t afford to put food on the table, gas in the truck, or pay for their health care. They’re doing everything right and still falling behind. They’re tired of being told to wait.

They talk to me about big money and how it’s corrupting our politics. They know that when corporations and billionaires write the checks, they also write the rules. And they’re right.

They talk to me about data centers. Folks don’t want massive data centers built in their backyards, eating up land, water, and power, while the profits go to companies that will never set foot in their town. They want a say in what happens to their communities. They deserve one.

That’s what this campaign is about. Not red or blue, but South Dakota.

And it’s working.

Because of the work we’ve put in, we are closing the gap. We now have four polls from three different pollsters showing this race within the margin of error. Let me say that again: within the margin of error, against an incumbent senator, in South Dakota. The people who wrote us off at the start of the cycle are paying attention now. That’s why I was on Morning Joe this morning.

We can win this race. I believe that with everything I’ve got. But I can’t do it without you.

Our critical end of quarter fundraising deadline is in just 48 hours. This is the number the press, the pundits, and the political world will look at to decide whether this race is real. We need to show them it is.

We’re on television right now telling our story. But Mike Rounds’ team is on the air too, with ads paid for by data center companies and Jeffrey Epstein associates. That’s who is funding the other side of this race. This campaign is funded by you.

Here’s our goal. We’re trying to raise $8,000 from our Substack community before the deadline. That’s 160 people chipping in $50 each.

If you’ve read this far, you can be one of the 160.

It has been a long fifteen months. Thank you for standing with us. Let’s go win this thing.

Lt. Colonel (ret). Brian Bengs
