We Can Feel The Change in The Air

This is the final full week before the election. We’re coming down to the wire, and I’m working every day to earn as many votes as possible ahead of Election Day. The word of the month has been “cautiously optimistic.” We have a real chance to win here, but it won’t come without perseverance, hard work, and maybe a bit of plain luck.

The job now is leaving nothing to chance if we can help it. That means holding events to meet and speak with voters and staying on the campaign trail to hit every corner of South Dakota.

I know I talk about it all the time, but I really cannot stress it enough. Every single South Dakotan I’ve met fundamentally agrees with my platform’s core principles.

The latest polling shows it as well. Emerson College, one of the nation’s top-rated independent pollsters, found that I am at 46% of the vote. We are so close to 50! I need your help to tip the odds in my favor.

I can’t be everywhere at once, which is why keeping our ads running is so important. The chance for a voter to hear what I’m all about while watching TV at home or on YouTube on their break at work is an opportunity for that voter to think, “I like what this guy has to say.”

Every single South Dakotan wants to get Big Money and corruption out of politics. They want to know that their elected representatives are working to help them, whether that’s trying to pull down the price of gas and diesel, or taking care of the farmers and ranchers at the core of our state’s economy, or making rural healthcare more accessible and affordable.

At the fundamental level, South Dakotans want to see Congress make good on the principles we hold dear: liberty, justice, and “We the People.”

For that very reason, the millions of dollars being spent by my opponent and his Big Money Super PAC buddies aren’t talking about any of that. Their goal is not to persuade or even dissuade anyone. It’s just to get voters to dismiss what they’re hearing before they have a chance to listen and agree with what I’m saying.

I need your help to stop them from flipping the script. We cannot let them change the narrative, and we absolutely cannot allow them to buy their way into “truth.”

These Big Money interests and the career politicians who enable them don’t want to see change, at least not for folks like you and me. The system works for them, and so they’re working to keep it that way.

Even with the polling they keep parading, and even with the cool, “we don’t care” attitude, we know that they’re worried.

They simply wouldn’t pour millions of dollars into a place like South Dakota if they didn’t think I had a chance. They wouldn’t have my opponent, who hasn’t held a public town hall since 2017 (or anytime before then), join a statewide campaigning tour with other candidates two weeks before the election.

They wouldn’t be trying to distract voters with culture war issues and partisan identity politics if they were confident about the outcome in November.

I take their desperation as a vote of confidence for my campaign, and I think you should too. We have a real chance. I’m 6’8”, so excuse the basketball metaphor: You don’t start a full-court press unless you’re truly scared of losing. Their pressure tells me that we have something real.

If you’re reading this, then you’re almost certainly more tuned in than the average voter. Everybody has a lot on their mind right now with rising costs and an unstable future. Many people are locking in their final decision on who to vote for this very week, and we need to do everything we can to make sure they know they have an Independent option.

We need whatever support you can give, because it may make the difference between a Big Money-backed career politician gaining re-election and a grassroots Independent bringing a new voice to the U.S. Senate.
