A Turning Point
Doesn’t it feel like we’re at a turning point in history? As I tour South Dakota in these final days before Election Day, it sure feels like to me. South Dakota’s decision on Tuesday will be a big part of that turn, and whether it’s for the better or for the worse.
Something that’s come to my mind on the long hours driving from town to town is an idea sprouting out of the Independent Movement. It describes this turning point as a potential “Fourth Founding” of our republic.
Let’s look to history, so that we can look toward the future.
The First Founding is obvious. Our Revolution, where we established our nation’s ideals and principles of liberty and justice for all.
The Second Founding was in the wake of the Civil War. We passed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments, doubling down on the principles of the Revolution.
The Third Founding happened through the Great Depression, the New Deal, and World War II. We recognized that government should help regular folks, creating Social Security. We decided to stand up for our principles, not just in our own borders, but worldwide.
The Fourth Founding is coming. Big Money controls our political system, and we’re seeing rampant corruption in just about every nook and cranny of government. Regular people are struggling to make ends meet, and they’re not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
We are sprinting through the tape. The newest independent poll has Brian in the lead by 2 points. Our final invoices are coming in — this is the moment when every commitment we’ve made to keep this campaign running through Election Day comes due. We’re $10,000 short of where we need to be tonight, and I’m reaching out because this grassroots team always has Brian’s back. I know times are tough, but if 100 people can chip in $100, we will hit our goal.
Chip in here to support the campaign!
It makes my blood boil. I have spent my life as an Independent, waiting and hoping for candidates who were willing to take on the root of so many other problems. Big Money is ruining our healthcare, it’s ruining our economy, it’s ruining our politics, and, if Big Tech and AI gets its way, apparently our society as well.
I stepped up to run for U.S. Senate because I’m tired of waiting. Something I learned in the Air Force was that if you see a problem no one is stepping up to fix, then you step up yourself. I will do that for South Dakota.
This Fourth Founding is about returning the voice of government to the people. We’re doubling, tripling, quadrupling down on our Founding ideals to say we are serious about “We the People,” “Of the people, by the people, for the people,” and “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.”
Change is coming to the U.S. Senate, and it’s coming from right here in South Dakota. Thank you for being along for the ride, standing alongside me.
Thank you for reading.
